The Sioux City Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center will present “Tales from Beyond the Trail” kids’ activities at 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 as part of the community-wide “Fall Fest.” Admission, materials and treats will be free.

Each session will begin with a story popular during the explorers’ time told around a “campfire” and followed by an activity.

“We can easily imagine the Corps of Discovery sitting around a campfire, telling ghost stories,” says Sara Olson, the Center’s History Education Curator. “For this event, we’ll gather around the Center’s indoor ‘campfire’ for spooks and goofs.”

Each story will be followed by a “Monster Mystery Box” activity and treats. “Kids will use their hands and noses to identify expedition items disguised as monster parts,” says Olson.
