SUMMARY:Lots of Critters Everywhere!
DESCRIPTION:Who made that print in the dirt?  Do you want to learn to recognize the animal prints? Starting at 10:00am on Saturday\, July 11\, 2026\, or Wednesday\, July 15\, 2026\, come Animal Tracking at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.  No admission charge\, but free will donations encouraged. \nPresident Jefferson directed Captain Lewis to document the new animals that he saw on the expedition. He saw lots of critters everywhere!  Fortunately\, Lewis recorded everything about them\, what they looked like and what their tracks looked like.  Today you can match up some tracks with critters and maybe create some of your own animals and unique tracks. Weather permitting\, we will be outside with sidewalk chalk\, so dress accordingly. \nRecommended for youth up to 8th grade; all kids are welcome. For details on each class\, visit https://siouxcitylcic.com/events-classes/ or contact Amy Linder\, Director of Youth Programming at alinder@siouxcitylcic.com. \nThe Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center/Betty Strong Encounter Center was built and is sustained by the Missouri River Historic Development Organization as a gift of history to the community. For more information call 712-224-5242. Find the Center at www.siouxcitylcic.com or www.facebook.com/sclandc \n

SUMMARY:Then & Now Duo
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, July 12\, 2026\, at 2:00pm in the Betty Strong Encounter Center\, the “Then & Now” duo comprised of singer-guitarist Barbara Sabella and fiddler-violinist Beth Preheim will bring new life to oldies. Admission is free\, but freewill donations are encouraged. \nThey will play many songs by the Gershwins\, Rodgers & Hart\, Hoagy Carmichael\, and more. Many of those tunes were popularized by singers like Etta James\, Frank Sinatra\, Johnny Mathis\, Louis Armstrong\, and Carly Simon. \nBarbara likes to sing pop\, country\, old time folk\, blues\, gospel\, and jazz. The words matter\, and she smooths out the music to honor the stories that the songs tell. She regularly plays with a string band in Canton\, SD\, a hub of the South Dakota Friends of Traditional Music crowd. She and cohorts frequently “practice in public” to bring music to folks who might not get out that much. \nBeth picked up her first violin in 1972 in the Congo. She plays fiddle in various bands across all genres: Celtic\, Americana\, cow punk\, rock\, blues\, jazz\, and old-time and Scandinavian fiddle. She has taught both classical violin and various fiddle styles to more than 100 students. Beth also founded a ukulele club and adds vocals\, ukulele and other folk instruments in a performing ukulele group called the Prairie Waves. \n The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center/Betty Strong Encounter Center was built and is sustained by the Missouri River Historic Development Organization as a gift of history to the community. For more information call 712-224-5242. Find the Center at www.siouxcitylcic.com or www.facebook.com/sclandc.

The performances are on Friday\, July 17\, 2026\, at 10:00am and again at 6:00pm on our outdoor stage.
