SUMMARY:Percy's Pals: Expedition Dwellings
DESCRIPTION:The Corps of Discovery built three temporary forts on their journey\, but what did they use for day-to-day shelter? And what types of dwellings did they see in Native American villages? We will talk about how Lewis and Clark designed and built their forts; and how the Native American nations lived in their different homes (many nations had their own\, distinct housing). We will build a fort together during the class\, and will construct miniature Native American dwellings to take home! \n  \nREGISTER HERE!\n[ninja_form id=’39’]

SUMMARY:Garie Lewis
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, November 3\, 2024\, at 2:00pm the Betty Strong Encounter Center welcomes Sioux City-based standup comic Garie Lewis to its stage. Admission is free with a reception to follow. \n  \nGarie genuinely loves performing stand-up.  Whether it is at a comedy club\, a huge theatre crowd\, or a handful of friendly folks at a small venue\, it is all the same to him.  He just needs a microphone and an audience who is ready to be entertained. \n  \nGarie’s act is polished after 40 years’ experience.  He has the confidence to riff with the audience\, pick up the guitar and belt out a song or two\, tell a side-splitting story or rattle off a series of well-crafted jokes. Garie has been a contestant on both Last Comic Standing and Showtime’s Funniest Person in Iowa Contest.  He has performed at the Snow Jam Comedy Festival and has had television appearances on Comedy Gallery Live and Night Shift with Kevin Ferguson.  He starred in the Indie short film “The Ghost in Her” and has several theater acting credits to his name.  He has worked with such notable acts as Steven Wright\, Tommy Chong\, Steve Harvey\, and Credence Clearwater “Revisited.”

SUMMARY:Percy's Pals: Holidays on the Trail
DESCRIPTION:When we think of holidays\,  many of us think about spending time with our families. The Corps of Discovery members had to celebrate many holidays far away from their families. What traditions did they carry with them on the journey? What new traditions did they start? We will answer some of those questions and talk about traditions which may have been popular in the time of Lewis and Clark that we still carry on\, today. \nREGISTER HERE!\n[ninja_form id=’39’]
