Center’s Week to Feature New Exhibit, Powwow Instruction and Comedy
This week, the Center offers guests a new exhibit by local artists, a culturally relevant children’s class and comedy for adults and families.

After a summer of intense programming that offered a number of special events and a new Tuesdays for You after-hours series, the Center heads into fall with a concentration on its foundational programming.
Sarah Enright’s presentation will use archived newspaper clippings, microfilm and web resources to present facts, theories and law enforcement efforts about Sioux City criminal cases that have gone cold.
“Adventure Saturdays will highlight the diverse cultures in Siouxland and help kids learn social/emotional skills, in addition to gaining a lot of historical knowledge” says Gibson. “We’re making a real effort to engage kids by periodically changing up the instruction with guest speakers and making sure the lesson plans include plenty of interaction.”
“I sing about my experiences, but since I’m human, there is an element of commonality that everyone identifies with,” says Hager. “I sometimes say that I am a story singer, and everyone loves a great story.”
The weekend of free, family-friendly events commemorates the anniversary of the Corps of Discovery’s stay in Siouxland and the death of Sgt. Charles Floyd. The festivities will run in conjunction with the Sgt. Floyd River Boat and Welcome Center’s encampment weekend.
