On Wednesday, June 14, the Center hosted members of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce and other guests for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating completion of the first phase of construction on our outdoor Spirit of Discovery stage.
The stage provides a unique setting where performers of all ages can showcase their talents in a casual, outdoor space. Executive Director Tracy Bennett and the partners with whom the Center works have extensive experience in the performing arts; their involvement will help ensure a rich learning experience for the performers we will recruit. The Center is making special efforts to work with school-aged children and young adults, so that they may benefit from the experience of the seasoned performers and producers who will also participate.
On Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17 at 7:00 PM, the Center offers its first production on the Spirit of Discovery Stage, “My Way: A Tribute to the Music of Frank Sinatra.”
The Center has been raising funds for the stage over many months. The Gilchrest Foundation and CF Industries have made generous contributions, but the Center still seeks to raise around $45,000 to cover construction costs.
