One key way to combat food deserts is to establish a Community Garden. We are lucky enough to put our efforts in the Growers’ Academy to good use, by providing free, fresh produce to our community. But how do you start a Community Garden somewhere else? Together we will learn what we can do in our community to establish and maintain a community garden.

The Growers’ Academy is a sixteen-week course which includes classes on topics such as soil preparation, nutrition, and community responsibility. Each class includes a 45-minute classroom lesson and 45 minutes working in the Center’s new Community Garden. The Growers’ Academy and Community Garden are sponsored and fully funded by our partners, CF Industries.
