Bees have been endangered for the past several years and to help them thrive, we need to focus on the hive. We will learn how to make safe havens for bees in our metropolitan habitat and how pollination benefits other plants and humans, too! Phil Breed, of the Siouxland Beekeepers Association will bring some of his tiny friends to help explain why pollination and bees are so important.

The Growers’ Academy is a sixteen-week course which includes classes on topics such as soil preparation, nutrition, and community responsibility. Each class includes a 45-minute classroom lesson and 45 minutes working in the Center’s new Community Garden. The Growers’ Academy and Community Garden are sponsored and fully funded by our partners, CF Industries.
