Event Series Event Series: Young Historians

April 3 at 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

This group, designed for high school students, will teach the scientific method of historiography (the analysis and presentation of history) and develop students’ understanding of the field of public history. Students will study American History topics but unlike a traditional educational setting, students will not use text books, but instead will read scholarly articles and study primary sources in order to conduct their analysis of historic topics. Students will engage in researching, writing, and presenting history using the latest trends in historiographic methods. We will also be partnering with the National History Day program so that students may earn a chance to present their work in Des Moines and (hopefully) Washington, D.C. each summer!
