This presentation, titled "Women in the Fur Trade," will highlight how women have always been critical to the function of the American economy, but often in ways that were not recognized at the time, or recorded reliably for historical purposes.

A Journey through the Underworld: Poems by Jeanne Emmons

On Sunday, December 3, at 2:00pm come to the Betty Strong Encounter center to experience "A Journey through the Underworld:  Poems by Jeanne Emmons" The author will take you  through the Greek and Roman underworld and back, a metaphor for grief over the loss of her mother. The poems explore the mother-daughter relationship, the nuances of grief, and the necessity of embracing life.

New Horizons Band Christmas Concert

On Sunday, December 10, music will fill the air when New Horizon’s Band of Sioux City presents its concert under the direction of Benjamin Mauritz at 2:00 PM at the Betty Strong Encounter Center. For this Christmas Concert, the Band will play a variety of Christmas musical styles including Carols, Classical, Pop, Jazz, and Novelty pieces.
