On May 14, 2024, the Betty Strong Encounter Center’s Main Gallery opens an exhibit “Finding My Voice: The Art of Charles Hoberg.”
This is Mr. Hoberg’s first gallery showing. A reception for the showing will be held in the atrium outside the Main Gallery at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center on Sunday, May 19 at 3:00pm. The exhibit runs through June 16, 2024.
Charles Hoberg began painting in 2016; he was then fifty-five years old. Having learned a great deal about the visual arts in college, he has limited formal art training and is largely self-taught. Color and form in all things have always caught Mr. Hoberg’s eye, even as representing it in formal drawing has proven a challenge. Painting, however, has provided him a means to express emotion through a more abstract use of color and form.
