The Sioux City Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center (“the Center”) announces the schedule of events to be held on its campus the week of July 17.
Here is what’s happening:
- Tuesday, July 18: As part of the Center’s “Tuesdays for You” series, Benda Iwen, one of the co-founders of Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue, will bring some of her rescues and lots of experience and knowledge to the Center’s campus. The Center invites the public to come and hear her story from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. On that evening, the Center will be open until 7:00.
- Wednesday, July 19: Exploration Wednesdays continue with a 9:30 class for K-3rd Graders called “Fish of the Missouri River” and an 11:00 archery demonstration for 4th-6thGraders.
- Thursday, July 20: As always, musicians and music appreciators are invited to the Betty Strong Encounter Center’s auditorium for a jam session from 1:00 to 4:00.
- Saturday, July 22: The Center presents a live performance by Queen Loaf, a dueling pianos group composed of pianists and singers Noah Towns and Chandler Todd, and percussionist Cory Birch, on our outdoor Spirit of Discovery stage. The event will be moved indoors if weather prohibits an outdoor performance. Please be advised that access to the Center for this event will be limited due to RAGBRAI closure of Larsen Park Road.
- Sunday, July 23: At 2:00 in the Betty Strong Encounter Center auditorium, Billy James Schneider will provide a live performance of country songs and other genres of music from the ‘50s and ‘60s.
“We’re especially happy to bring another unique outdoor event to Siouxland families this week,” says Executive Director Tracy Bennett. “The Queen Loaf dueling pianos event will feature accomplished local musicians and the show promises to be lively entertainment for all ages.”
Noah Towns and Chandler Todd will bring their piano and vocal talents to the Spirit of Discovery stage on Saturday, July 22.
