Job Title: Education Coordinator
Employment Category: Non-exempt; regular Full-Time; 37-40 hours/weekly
Employee would work every other weekend — no work on Mondays.
Job summary; The Education Coordinator works with the Executive Director to create Children’s programs for the Center. The Coordinator will also work with the “visitor experience” operations and assist Executive Director and Assistant Director with events planning, promotion, and coordination. The Coordinator will effectively work with social media platforms and create advertising for children’s programming.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Greets visitors and acquaints them with the Center’s exhibits and programs
- Schedules and maintains tour schedule; and conducts group and school tours
- Assists with daily operations of the Center with particular focus on meeting visitors, visitor safety, and cleanliness of the Center
- Provides visitors/travelers with information about the Siouxland community
- Creates curriculum and implements programing for children’s activities
- Creates and administers social media content for multiple sources
- Assists live-streaming process with Center’s and presenter’s equipment
- Assists with planning, design and implementation of exhibits
- Designs and utilizes multiple media formats
- Maintains and updates website
- Organizes and catalogs archival records
Reports to: Executive Director; works cooperatively and respectfully with all staff, the Center’s volunteers and consultants. In the Director’s absence, reports to the Assistant Director and Communications Director.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate history major or related area;
- Positive attitude about contributing to the Center as an evolving cultural and educational resource;
- Willingness to take direction and work cooperatively with staff;
- Strong personal communication skills; pleasant, respectful, and helpful to all people; understanding of telephone etiquette and importance of accurately taking and delivering messages;
- Ability to transact cash sales
- Keen eye for details with regard to the Center’s appearance; willing to “tidy up”
- Strong, ongoing interest in the Center’s mission of commemorating a history of encounters.
