On Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 7:00 pm, come to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center’s Spirit of Discovery Summer show being held on its outdoor stage. The evening’s program features Ballet Folklorico de Jalisco.

Admission is free. The audience will be positioned in a grassy area of Center’s campus, so they are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, as well as refreshments. In case of rain, the show will be moved inside to the auditorium.

This highly talented local Siouxland dance troupe has been in existence for over twenty years. The founder, Rosa Losa, started the troupe for family members who wanted to dance.  Now a non-profit group, they currently have 45 dancers, ranging in age from 12-17. The dancers come from many different elementary and high schools in Sioux City, IA and South Sioux City, NE.

This all-volunteer troupe has been the entertainment for various entities fundraising evenings, have performed at Des Moines Latin Festival, and have traveled to Lincoln and Omaha NE and Watertown and Mitchell SD. The current director, Lily Quinonez-Simental “loves to see the dancers benefit from the physical and mental exercise of dancing and of learning about the culture and dances from the many states of Mexico.”
