The Betty Strong Encounter Center’s Main Gallery is currently hosting an exhibit of artwork by Paula and Brian Damon. The exhibit runs through August 4, 2024.
The art exhibit “Both-And” juxtaposes characteristically big, bold abstract paintings by artist Brian Joel Damon alongside subtle, organic photography by Paula Bosco Damon. The exhibit coalesces a gathering of 30 or more recent works for the viewing public.
Employing freedom of expression channeled through broad, striking energy, artist Brian Joel Damon creates transformative ethos through broad lines, brushstrokes, and unconventional artist movement. Using camera lenses to capture nuanced textures of the physical world, artist-photographer Paula Bosco Damon frames life’s often overlooked crevices, cracks, and crannies highlighting profound meanings and memories emergent in her works.
With a lifelong commitment to the arts and art education, the Damon’s are art influencers in their community, where they have resided for 50 years. Dedicated to making and sharing art, Brian and Paula were the driving force in the implementation of the first-ever Art Education curriculum for the Jefferson, S.D. School District, now Dakota Valley School District.
