Mexican dancers in colorful dresses

For our September 30th class, the Ballet Folklorico dancers and director will teach our students the physical and mental benefits of dancing and the culture and dances from the many states of Mexico.

Ballet Folklorico is a local Siouxland dance troupe that has existed for more than 20 years. The founder, Rosa Losa, started the troupe for family members who wanted to dance. Ballet Folklorico currently has 45 dancers, ranging in age from 12-17. The dancers come from many different elementary and high schools in Sioux City, Iowa and South Sioux City, Neb. This all-volunteer troupe has entertained for various local fundraising evenings, performed at Des Moines Latin Festival, and traveled to Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., and Watertown and Mitchell, South Dakota.
