Event Series Event Series: Sundays at the Center

August 25 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

On Sunday, August 25, at 2:00 PM at the Betty Strong Encounter Center, Bill Peterson  will share “Have Fiddle, Will Travel.” Admission is free with a reception to follow.

Peterson along with his musical partners and traveling companions will be telling stories and playing tunes from travels to different fiddling meccas in Europe, Canada and the United States. He has been to Ireland, Scotland, Shetland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Cape Breton in Canada to study different fiddling cultures and to play music with the locals. He has attended the “American Festival of Fiddle Tunes” in Port Townsend, Washington twice and many other festivals and concerts around the country.

A recent article in the South Dakota Magazine stated, “Along with friends and apprentices, Peterson is continuing the centuries old style of Missouri Valley bluegrass music that has evolved through generations of musicians.” Peterson is from Canton, South Dakota and has been fiddling for over 40 years and plays Scandinavian, Celtic and old-time fiddle tunes.
