Event Series Event Series: Sundays at the Center

May 26 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

On Sunday, May 26 at 2:00 PM at the Betty Strong Encounter Center, talented musician Bob Bovee will do a show titled “Steel Rails and Western Trails” comprised mostly of traditional music that reflects those aspects of the trains and trails.

Bob Bovee is a Nebraska native whose family sang and played old-time songs. Many of the western and railroad songs he performs were learned from his grandmother and uncle. Bovee plays banjo and autoharp, sings and yodels, and can drive a dance band with his guitar and harmonica.

His program will be interspersed with dry and witty stage humor. He has published numerous articles and reviews for The Old-time Herald and Inside Bluegrass and been an instructor for a course called “The History of Country Music” for the Honors Division at the University of Minnesota. Bob is also the Artistic Director for the Bluff Country Gathering and the organizing force for the Lanesboro Barn Dance.
