Event Series Event Series: Sundays at the Center

September 29 at 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

The Betty Strong Encounter Center will welcome Crabgrass, a musical trio of Joan Wells, Sam Packard, and Kris Simon, to our auditorium on Sunday, September 29 at 2:00 PM.  Admission is free with a reception to follow.

Crabgrass has created a combination of Western music styles and will be performing Classic Country Music. Some of the songs include hits by Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Bob Wills, Loretta Lynn, Carter Family and others. The group has been playing together for over 15 years and perform songs from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Joan Wells has toured across the country performing for a Hollywood Entertainment Agency. Sam Packard has won fiddle championships and is a strings instructor in Lincoln, NE.  Kris Simon has studied piano, banjo and bass and brings some comedy to the group.

All three musicians have a natural ability to play all styles of music and have appeared at fairs, festivals, museums, and western events.  Altogether they are known as “Crabgrass,” a unique sound inspired by their love for traditional music. Sit back and enjoy the sounds of the early Country Music period as they play your Country Western favorites.
