Event Series Event Series: Percy’s Pals

April 6 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Mapping and navigation are skills which were critical to the survival of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Without the ability to navigate, the explorers would have been hopelessly lost in the hundreds of thousands of acres of western North America – and without the ability to make maps, future settlers would not have been able to follow in their footsteps. In this class students will learn to use a compass and other basic navigation skills so they can begin to make their own maps!

Students in Percy’s Pals will be divided into two groups, based on school grade. Kindergarten through Second Grade will meet at 1:00 p.m., and Third through Fifth Grades will meet at 2:00 p.m. Each section of students will meet for one hour, once a month to engage in a series of scientific adventures inspired by the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Programs will include topics such as Jefferson’s gadgets, mapmaking, geology, plant and animal classification, and medicine and first aid.
